It strikes me as a campaign that's arisen from a belief that that's front page news in Australia - and is completely at odds with their previous positioning as Australia's favourite bank. I honestly believe that this, and a subsequent spot they've done showing Americans researching cricket with members of the national team, is some of the worst advertising I've ever seen. I don’t think this is clever or funny at all, for the very reason you’ve find it amusing – it’s targeted (poorly I might ad) to people who know about the Commonwealth Bank appointing a US agency, and care about it.
