Gorillaz’s Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett create Monkey for BBC

Gorillaz’s Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett retell the Chinese Monkey King folk tale for the BBC. The commercial was recreation of a 1970’s kids show called Monkey and is part of BBC campaign to inform people of their coverage of the 2008 Summer Olympics. The short was directed by Gorillaz’s Jamie Hewlet with animation from Pete Candeland and Rob Valley of Passion Pictures.
The release of the short also coincides with the Gorillaz’s upcoming album release also called Monkey.
